Since its inception in 2001, under the auspices of Women's Initiatives, Samyukta, an Indian journal of women's studies, has been at the forefront of academic deliberations related to women's issues. Articles in Samyukta embrace a range of subjects - gender, race, nation, class/caste divisions, sexuality, and identity - approached from an inter-disciplinary theoretical perspective. It promotes creative and new writing, personal accounts and interviews that authenticate the female experience. Samyukta actively partakes in translation from the regional languages of India into English.
